ABOUT RACE

Green Crescent Intercontinental Eurasia MidNight Half Marathon

The Green Crescent Intercontinental Eurasia MidNight Half Marathon, which brings together sport and solidarity in the historic atmosphere of Istanbul, takes place on the night of June 21st. Unlike traditional marathons, this special event is held at night. It aims to provide both a physical challenge and to raise social awareness about the fight against addiction.

Purpose and Collaboration

Organized with the support of the Turkish Green Crescent Society under the motto of "healthy living," the marathon combines the unifying power of sports with social good. The event aims to create awareness against addictions and encourage an active lifestyle. Participants highlight the social responsibility projects carried out by the Green Crescent while experiencing the race.


The Advantages of a Night Run

Starting at midnight, the race offers participants an extraordinary marathon experience:

  • Cooler Weather: Runners can enjoy the race without the heat of summer days.

  • Unique Views: The 21-kilometer course features Istanbul’s illuminated historic silhouette and Bosphorus views.

  • A Quiet City: It provides a running experience in an Istanbul free from traffic and city noise.

 

Route Information

The race will start in front of Altunizade Capitol Mall. The route will head towards Çamlıca and pass through the July 15 Martyrs Bridge exit, across the bridge itself, the Beşiktaş exit, Barbaros Boulevard, and Beşiktaş Square.

The course then turns towards Karaköy, passing Beşiktaş Avenue, Dolmabahçe Avenue, Dolmabahçe Palace, Kabataş, Fındıklı, Tophane, and the Galata Bridge to reach Eminönü. Following the coastline toward Eyüp, the route continues through Ragıp Gümüşpala Avenue and Cibali. The first U-turn will be made at the junction near the IBB Haliç Sanat Fener Evleri 1.

After the turn, the route heads back toward Eminönü, passing Kadir Has University and Sirkeci to reach the İDO Ferry Terminal. The run continues along Kennedy Avenue toward Yenikapı, passing through Sarayburnu and Ahırkapı. After a second U-turn at Ahırkapı Bukoleon Palace, the race heads back toward Sirkeci and finishes in front of the lower gate of Gülhane Park.

Technical Details and Participation

Distance: The race will be held on a standard half-marathon course of 21,097.5 meters.

Date: The run takes place on the night connecting June 21st to June 22nd.

The Route: A special path has been designed to highlight the city’s historic fabric and the intercontinental crossing through central points of Istanbul.

 

The Green Crescent Intercontinental Eurasia Night Half Marathon is open to professional athletes as well as anyone who embraces an active life and wants to discover Istanbul from a different perspective.
